We spend more than half our lives waiting – waiting for others. For them to appreciate, encourage, motivate us and also expect others to make life comfortable for us. Not everyone can be with us all the time. We spend the whole of our life with ourselves. So isn’t it better that we learn to know ourselves better, to motivate ourselves when we are crestfallen, to pat ourselves on the back when we do something appreciable? Why wait for others to do what we must do ourselves?
Self-love or rather, loving ourselves is our prime responsibility. If only we know how to love ourselves, can we love others too.
When we truly love ourselves, we realize that confidence comes from within and that no one can make us feel as good or as happy as ourselves. We become less likely to feel pressured to do things just to be liked. Caring less about the opinions of others gives us the freedom to walk our own path and be our genuine selves.
When we put ourselves first, we make choices that will only improve our quality of life. We eat better and sleep and exercise more because we realize that taking care of our mental and physical well-being are essential to our success. When we look better, we feel better, and when we feel better, we do better.
Thus, taking charge of our lives helps us make choices that align with our values and lead a better life.
BIBLE VERSE:
Psalm 139:14 : I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
There are two types of loving our own selves. The first one is when we are conceited, prideful, and arrogant, thinking we are better than everyone, which is not the way it is meant to be. After all, what have to be conceited or arrogant about? Is there anything that we can own ourselves? Are we going to be here, immortal as ever? How long can we claim our possessions?
Only as long as we have breath in our body or memory in our minds.
Then, there is naturally loving ourselves. Naturally loving ourselves is being thankful for what God has made of us. Be grateful to acknowledge that we are created beautiful, that there can be no other like us in duplication, to stand in awe at His Handiwork. Let’s remain humble and reliant upon Him and love every other bit of Creation and give it due respect and space.
Bless, Love and Let Live!
PRAYER:
To all those dear souls who are confused about to how to go about loving themselves, here’s a little prayer to help you through. Place your thoughts with Him and be thankful………as simple as that!
Dear Lord, We thank You for Your Great Love to us. May we love and honor You with all our heart, mind and soul. Give us the gift of naturally loving ourselves and being thankful for all that You have given us. Let us never be arrogant or selfish in Love. May that Love be humbling, forgiving and devoid of boasting. Grant us the grace to love others, as we do ourselves. Let your Presence fill us, guide us, keep us and our loved ones safe, healthy and happy. In Your Name. Amen.
Love and Peace on all.
