Ego– just a small three-letter word but we all know the impact that it has on our lives. In moderate amounts, it can do wonders to boost up our self esteem but left to itself, it can flare up to kill all relationships around it at one go. When we say that someone has an ego problem, we can only presume that he is walking around with a ticking bomb in him.
Ego is different from Attitude in that Attitude makes the person stand out from the others in a positive sense whereas an Egotistic person could find himself left alone, deserted by others.
The only way to confront our own Ego is with an awareness and a playfulness that is child-like. It is good to have a good laugh at everything, including ourselves. Treat life as fun, not taking anything to heart but yet retaining the values of Life, specially Humility.
1 Peter 5:6 of the Bible tells us:
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s Mighty Hand, that He may lift you up in due time.
Ego can either be a tool to greatness and destruction according to how you wield it.
Ego in the right amount helps build your doorway to success. Too much of it destroys the work you’ve done so far.
The cost of a big ego is huge, since it hinders growth in any direction…personal, professional or spiritual
It is better to cut it off before it grows too tall.
Pride and Ego share the same qualities like twin sisters, but Humility is the only way that we can reach God or maintain a personal rapport with Him, in the spiritual world.
He resists the proud, but showers His Grace on the humble.
Call upon the Lord to fill you with compassion and humility.
PRAYER:
To all those dear ones, who want a changeover, who are sick and tired of their egotistic selves, who want to draw closer to God but know not how…here is your prayer, asking the Lord to fill you with compassion and humility.
Just put in your desire..He will help you with the rest.
May there be total submission to Him who blesses a humble heart.
Dear Lord, We pray for compassion and humility in our hearts. May we be kind, generous, loving, giving, and forgiving wherever we may go. May we never let our Ego spoil our relationships which we care for, nor let it puff us up to hurt ourselves in the long run. Change our hearts today and let us become a blessing to others and to ourselves. Fill us with Your Grace and Humility. In Your Name. Amen.
God bless you with His Grace and Humility.
