IT’S ALL ABOUT STEPPING INTO ANOTHER’S SHOES….WILLINGLY !

Here a rush, there a rush, everywhere a rush rush….!

What a fiasco!

Vehicles lined up, impatient, horns hooting and honking, abuses being hurled left, right and center. Traffic signals jammed, policemen frustrated, pedestrians and motorists unforgiving…the air reeks of intolerance …you ask, ‘What is it all about?’ and you get more cold stares than answers… as if to say, “Hmmm, so you now want to know what the matter is, eh? Go and find for yourself….”

Rush Hour and Blocks.

Why is everyone so disturbed early in the morning? Morning rush hour is a common sight in cities. Added to it are the afternoon and the evening ones now.  And traffic blockades are not something that anyone enjoys. It is a real pain to be part of the ordeal. Motorists lining up with hardly any breathing space…I’m referring to INDIAN CITIES !! We know that the growing opportunities in a city  life attracts almost 80% of the population to move closer to their work places, fearing loss of time in mass transit.

But what  is it that makes a man so peeved commuting? What makes him think that he is more equal than the other on the road? Why are there no ethics in keeping up with the rules of the road ?

To Each His Own.

People clamor for their rights even on the road. And in a state like Kerala, each one has his ‘rights’  etched out on the palm of his hand. But have you taken a wee while off, to see whether you have been acting responsibly and reasonably, without infringing upon the ‘rights’ of your fellow traveler on the roads or stepping ‘ON HIS SHOES’ ?

Yes, you heard me right . Stepping ‘ON’ someone’s shoes only causes further confusion and heated exchanges….

But if you were to step ‘INTO’ someone’s shoes, then you would be more complacent and less aggressive with the other person. Probably you would understand his need to be more urgent than yours. You would show more consideration Selfishness leads us to believe that we need to be treated with special consideration and given undue attention…at every place .

All of us are out on the roads, whatever time of the day, for some purpose, job, errand or urgency. We need to reach our destination too ! One person’s cause may not be important to another, but surely that is no reason to believe and behave rude or ill-mannered . It also does not give anyone reason to break the queues, causing further blocks or inconveniences.

A Wider Perspective.

Looking at it from a universal point of view, the truth is this. We are not separated from the whole . We are part of the whole. The missing link put in its proper place and perspective adds charm and beauty to the whole canvas called ‘life’.

A kind thought for the brother who brushes past you everyday on the road..‘.let the busybee move on ..I shall wait for my turn’ …would make you much more humane  and will turn your day into a pleasant one. Kind deeds and words  always gives us the ‘Feel Good’ factor and makes us cheerful for the day.

Waiting for your turn does not mean that you will be deadly late and that you would lose out on the best moments of your day or life.

NO. Far from it. Life does not cheat out on you …..IF ….If you do not cheat out on it….

For the rule of Life is  that…The first shall be last and the last shall be first !
