STOP POINTING FINGERS

Finding fault and being critical are some of the easiest things that seem to come naturally to us. Why do we stand in judgement of others? Is it because we want to be one-up on them or want to feel better about ourselves? We also get critical when others fail to do what we ask, or do not do what we think is right. Usually the target would be a family member, a friend, a coworker or anyone that takes our fancy. We sit in heavy judgement on them and never want to approve of anything that they do.

Our own frustrations could, sometimes, be the cause of a critical attitude in us. If life does not turn out the way we desire, we hide our own frustrations by finding fault with others.

But that is no solution. We, who point fingers at others, must realize that we are no better than anyone else. Maybe we are worse hypocrites. We have greater weaknesses within us which we need to correct first.

We need to introspect ourselves and also learn to be tolerant of others, giving them their space and time to correct themselves. Treat others as you would want them to treat you – in thought, word and deed!

John 8:7 of the Bible says:

“If any of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Jesus said this when the religious leaders brought a woman to Him. She had been caught in sexual sin and they wanted to stone her to death. After Jesus spoke, no one stayed back to cast a stone on the woman.

It’s a beautiful incident – showing us the heart of God. The Tender Mercy, Kindness, Forgiveness and the Restoration of the wrong-doer.

In the Biblical scene, nobody seemed to be concerned about the woman’s spiritual, emotional or physical welfare. They were simply using her as a tool against Jesus.

We could also easily be one from among the crowd there. Sometimes we too get so caught up in being right, that we stop seeing people as people. We might see them only as a mere means to an end.

Remember, we are all the same before God. Being filled with our own weaknesses, frailties and imperfections, no one is perfect. We live on the Grace from Above.

Thank God for His Grace and Mercy,  for forgiving us our wrongs and  for giving us a second chance at life.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, Forgive us for all the times that we have found faults in others and made ourselves out to be perfect beings. Wean us away from such judgmental attitude. May we never forget that we are all equal before You and that we need to remove the beam in our own eyes before we look at the speck in another’s eye.

Thank you for Your Mercy, Grace and Love upon us. Amen.

God bless us all, be with us and take care of all our needs.
